Interview with Dawn:

How many years have you been practicing/teaching?
When I was 3 years old (many many years ago) my mom had this little manual with hand drawn illustrations of yoga postures. She and I would get down the carpet and practice together, I have been practicing ever since. I started teaching in my twenties long before the most of the world knew what yoga was and then family and life got in the way although I continued to practice I left teaching behind. Now my son is grown and I've returned to my first love and my passion for sharing and teaching yoga.

What is your favorite style to teach?
My favorite style of yoga is Hatha Vinyasa flow with a little Kripalu mixed in. I enjoyed the movement and flow of Hatha Vinyasa but also feel it is important to slow down sometimes and go deep within. In our fast past world we need to find space to go within and allow some space and silence to keep ourselves in balance.

Favorite style to practice?
My favorite time of the day to practice is before the sun rise (especially during the summer, it is delicious to salute the sun as it rises over the waves). I enjoy a flow practice with many sun salutations. It gets my blood flowing, raises my heart rate, strengthens and stretches my body and allows me face my day with energy, enthusiasm and an abundance of gratitude.

A little more about you...
Yoga - not just the asanas but also the 8 limbs and sutras - are my spiritual practice. Yoga governs my actions, feeds my soul and allows me to look deep within as my life unfolds. I have devoted my life to helping others, being of service feeds my soul and allows me to take my yoga practice off the mat.
One of my many mentors once said, "I never guessed that service would be such an intrinsic part of my yoga." Humanitarian Yogi Seane Corn - Founder of Off the Mat & into the World

See you on the mat,
